Homesick and tired a hopeless feel
And in a place you thought you never would
So you drove home from Montana,
Just to prove to yourself that you really could
Headlights flash by gone easterly,
The stripped line’s a friend you call your own.
Drive way pulled gas light is on,
The clock is wrong the past aint really gone
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
No more
Postmodern class you choose your seat
You’re in a place you thought you’d never sit
Introductions made the future’s laid,
Fate’s tendency’s to blindside just a bit
Midwest regressed, a love confessed,
A little fear but what would one expect?
Like distance run, not always fun
But when it’s done you know it was correct
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
No more
Headed south, a holiday
Scenery hung on O’Keefe’s easel
You’ll drive yourself through desert
Though this time you will not fear no evil
Unlike before, no tears do pour
Passenger filled you captain with a crew
Road ahead, prophet unsaid
It’s like the past, but know this to be true:
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
No more
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
May you never feel alone
No more

Trenches

I’ve been in the trenches
I’ve watched them grow
I’ve seen the trees go
I’ve made my adventures
I’ve climbed the tower
I’ve painted them power
This nostalgia’s memory without regret
If simplicity’s poetry then I’ll take it back
I’ve chosen my battles
Spoke hope with more
I’ve strived to scribe in its lore
I may have been selfish
Side effects justified
Experience gave and gained I’ve tithed
This nostalgia’s memory without regret
If simplicity’s poetry then I’ll take it back

Deer

One deer at night two more at dawn
I’ve seen the fawn,
I see the doe
My paradox’s par for the course
I’ve made my choice
To be heard
Wrist watches broken in the past
You’ve shed your cast
I wined the pin
A wealth once blinded both my eyes
So now I strive
To redeem
Winters, and summers, and springs, and I fall
Into Christmas and Easter and Halloween spent with no call
So I’m kind of blue with a single rose and I ride this train just to keep on moving through
Cause a mallard sings my name and it won’t stop
Cause a mallard calls my name and it won’t stop
The plate tectonics all have froze
Winters this cold
Can’t defrost
A true man wouldn’t say such words
But I aint heard
Of such a man
You prefer second hand so I’ll give you mine
And I’ll do the best I can
The best I can
I ask you once I ask you twice
Just to be nice
You say just do
Winters, and summers, and springs, and I fall
Into Christmas and Easter and Halloween spent with no call
So I’m kind of blue with a single rose and I ride this train just to keep on moving through
Cause a mallard sings my name and it won’t stop
Cause a mallard calls my name and it won’t stop
One deer at night two more at dawn
I’ve seen the fawn
I see the doe
One deer at night two more at dawn
The drive is long
But it goes fast
One deer at night two more at dawn
I stand among
Future success
One deer at night two more at dawn
One thing I mourn
The lack of time

Allegiance
04:01
|
|||
Have I lost myself in polite flexibility?
Perfectibility?
Pusher and pushed both me?
Family tree, species once known to be
Called into question by mislabeled roots and leaves
Feared/Named inferiority
Will I find myself in this pledge of allegiance?
Grief in my grievance?
Guilt in my reverence?
Displaced faith, redistributed doubtfully
From father and son to postmodern philosophy
I’m damned admittedly
