The Lion's Den
04:06

Well a lion tamer gave his name and 33 chose to play his game
And after I know we won’t feel the same
It’s a tooth mark here and a line cut there but I’d say were no worse for wear
And look at all we’ve learned inside this den
For one the swords mightier than the pen
So I won’t forget the Alamos or the green house second in
No I won’t
And I’ll find as sure as time did fly that these memories
In the lion’s den
In the lion’s den won’t escape me soon
Well a father and a mother new not to leave out a sister too
And 5 dogs outside allowed to raise the roost
The blood’s not shared but who could care I’d have to say my fortune is rare
To be welcomed home with wide and open arms
From conception I could feel this family’s charm
So I won’t forget the Alamos or the green house second in
No I won’t
And I’ll find as sure as time did fly that these memories
In the lion’s den
In the lion’s den won’t escape me soon
So I won’t forget the Alamos or the green house second in
No I won’t
And I’ll find as sure as time did fly that these memories
In the lion’s den
In the lion’s den won’t escape me soon

Percy Fawcett

In 1922 we shot a man on to the moon
And though it did not receive much news
In certain circles excitement grew
He was a man of considered strength and Percy Fawcett was his name
A person who rarely complained, but he was never seen again
His previous trips had all gone fine
He’d mapped the earth and charted the sky
And no one thought he’d ever die so you can imagine their surprise
When a man who is invincible, who’s built his life on principle
The people said it was a lie and with there heads to the sky they cried
Percy won’t you please come back
You’ve been gone for far too long and that’s a fact
Percy won’t you please come back
You’ve been gone for far too long and that’s a fact
The search parties they soon were sent
To bring it back was there intent
But few could brave the elements of open space their will it bent
So empty handed they returned or not at all some crews were burned
By solar flares sent from the sun, still cries they rained from everyone
Percy won’t you please come back
You’ve been gone for far too long and that’s a fact
Percy won’t you please come back
You’ve been gone for far too long and that’s a fact
The hope of rescue soon grew thin for the man many had seen as kin
The grieving yanked from deep within
Was this defeat to be a sin?
Percy never did return but immortal became his name an journey
The people rallied one last time and let out one final futile cry
Percy won’t you please come back
You’ve been gone for far too long and that’s a fact
Percy won’t you please come back
You’ve been gone for far too long and that’s a fact

I don’t mind if you want to but you’d prefer a substitute
So I pick myself off the bench
The homophone hung up on me and you
So I’ll redial and give it one more try
But translation is sometimes scared in an airport with one foot bare
The call concludes it’s not good news but it was just a shoe
We will see the last time this won’t be
A taxi ride with a swan song, paranoid every light long
Focus lacked on a backpack
I feel the slip and god I hope I’m wrong
But the fall was fast and a swerving car its last
Mr. Spencer ease your mind, thing have a way of working out in due time
And if they don’t they’re only things and they can be replaced
He will see the last time it won’t be
We may have lost our direction but a map we never had
So being lost is more or less a point of view
And if the camera breaks I don’t worry for the memories can’t be lost
I know it’s true
I know it’s true
I know it’s true
We will see the last time this won’t be
A guide to a lonely planet never got off of the plane
And a black hat from the stars its disposition was the same
And a hiking boot trekked solo with its pair left all alone
Secured safely to a backpack lesson learned and brought back home
And a water bottle made of gold but valued not as high
It fell freely from a backpack the pavement’s bounce a sad goodbye
And a Korean man stood rigid in all of his photos
But he disappeared discreetly possibly to Kyoto
And my self-confidence for a time I certainly did lack
Fortunately unlike the others it eventually came back

An Idyll
05:28
|

A dug out’s where I sit you know I wouldn’t dare to spit
For it’s not baseball that we watch
The day is almost done it’s signaled by a setting sun
And when it is down dark will be true
For candles they are all we have to light this city hall
And the power lines are more or less for show
Exceptions they are special times like 15 years and pebble’s rhymes
And despite the dark the smiles will shine on through
So how can I help these when they’re happier than me?
The victor tells the community it swells
The choice is mine and I’ll make it in due time
I’ll follow be and wait and see
The net’s up for a hit while the river’s down a bit
But either way, it’s not all work
The pavement can’t be seen enraptured in velvet and green
And well here progress, has been slow to come
When the road is made of dirt and you’ve been handed down your shirt
From a world you will never even know
You’re isolated lost in time like epic poems and quoted lines
And I’ve come to find, they’re not my cup of tea
So how can I help these when they’re happier than me?
The victor tells the community it swells
The choice is mine and I’ll make it in due time
I’ll follow be and wait and see
So how can I help these when they’re happier than me?
The victor tells the community it swells
The choice is mine and I’ll make it in due time
I’ll follow be and wait and see
